Train Derailment in Tarrant County Causes Traffic Delays

A train derailment in Haslet, north of Fort Worth in Tarrant County, caused traffic trouble Monday morning.

The accident happened at around 6 a.m. Monday near the intersection of FM 156 and Avondale-Haslet Road.

BNSF said three empty cars derailed at the Alliance Intermodal Facility.

There were no injuries to any crew.

The derailment happened in a neighborhood near a Northwest ISD elementary school. That caused problems for some parents trying to drop off their kids.

Officials urged people to seek alternative routes and avoid the area if possible.

Avondale-Haslet Road reopened at 8:54 a.m. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
