Update: Chicago Bulls Release 2-Year NBA Player

Carlik Jones is coming off a year where he played in seven regular season games for the Chicago Bulls.

The former Louisville star averaged 2.9 points per contest while shooting 40.0% from the field.

He also played well in the G League with averages of 26.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.7 steals per contest while shooting 48.0% from the field and 35.5% from the three-point range in 24 regular season games.

On Friday, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that the Bulls are waiving Jones.

Via Charania: “The Chicago Bulls are waiving guard Carlik Jones, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.”

Jones has played 12 games in the NBA (over two seasons) for the Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets and Chicago Bulls.

He has a career average of 2.0 points per contest while shooting 29.2% from the field and 42.9% from the three-point range.

Since Jones played so well in the G League (and the timing of the move), he will likely return to the Windy City Bulls for the start of the 2023-24 season.

As for the Bulls, they will play their first game of the regular season on October 25 when they host the Oklahoma City Thunder at the United Center in Illinois.

Last season, they were the tenth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 40-42 record.

After beating the Toronto Raptors in their first play-in tournament game, the Bulls were eliminated by the Miami Heat.

They have missed the NBA playoffs in five out of the previous six seasons.
